No. A book an author shares with you opens straight in your browser — no download, no store account, nothing in the way. The reader app adds offline downloads and the full listening experience when you want them.

Yes. In the Storybase iPhone or Android app, open Music in the audiobook player, choose Apple Music or Spotify, then play your song in that app. Play and pause work together, and the music card lets you pause just the music. Your seven included days start the first time you open Music on any book; after that, My music requires Reader Premium. There is no automatic charge. Your music account and any provider subscription are separate. Browser listeners can open the Music panel to get the app.

They stay put. Highlights, notes, bookmarks, and your place are saved to your account, not to the book. If you buy it later, or the author shares it again, everything is exactly where you left it.

No — and we'd rather say so than let you find out. Premium gives you one credit a month to unlock a book, and that book is yours to keep whether or not you stay subscribed. Credits stack up to twelve if you don't spend them. Premium also adds Storybase’s built-in instrumental music library and chapter sharing. Saving AI conversation summaries to your book notes is included on every reader plan.

It reads the actual text of that book and answers from it, with the author's name and title in front of it the whole time. When the answer genuinely isn't in the book, it tells you that instead of guessing.

All the time. Authors send out first chapters and full copies directly — that's a big part of what Storybase is for. You get the real reader either way: highlights, notes, bookmarks, and questions for the AI.
