For readers

Read it. Listen to it. Ask it anything.

One app for the ebook and the audiobook. Switch between them whenever you want, highlight what lands, and ask the book itself when something doesn't.

Read

A reader that gets out of the way.

The point is the book. Everything here exists to keep you in it — and to keep what you found in it.

Set it up the way you read

Type size, typeface, and a white, sepia, or dark page. Pick it once — the book remembers, on whatever you open it on next.

Highlight, note, bookmark

Mark a line, write down what you thought, drop a bookmark. All of it saves to your account rather than to the book — so it's still there if you come back a year later.

Stop reading, start listening

Read a few pages at lunch, put the audiobook on for the drive home. Each format keeps its own place, and both follow you from phone to laptop.

Open it anywhere

A book someone sends you opens in your browser in seconds — no download, no store account. In the reader app you can pull a whole book onto your device and keep going with no signal at all.

Listen

Press play. It's already loaded.

These are real audiobooks from real Storybase authors, playing in the real player. Pick one and listen right here.

Follow every word

The narration and the text run together. Watch the words as they're read, or tap any line to send the audio straight there.

At your pace

Speed it up, slow it down, jump back fifteen seconds when your mind wandered off somewhere around chapter four.

Screen off, still going

Lock the phone, put it in your pocket, keep listening. Chapter and controls stay on the lock screen where you'd expect them.

Soundtracks

A Reader Premium extra: an instrumental score playing underneath — while you listen, or while you read — that ducks under the narration so you never lose a word.

Your ears are free right now. Use them.

Go deeper

Where a book stops being a one-way conversation.

You've always been able to argue with a book in your head. Now you can do it out loud, and get an answer.

Ask the book

Every book comes with an assistant that has read it. Who was that again? What did she mean by that? What did I miss in chapter three? Answers come out of the book's own text — and when something genuinely isn't in there, it says so instead of inventing it.

Say it out loud

Switch to voice and talk it through while you're walking, driving, or doing the dishes. Same assistant, same book, no typing.

Follow the authors you like

Follow an author and you'll hear about it when their next book lands — no algorithm deciding whether you deserve to know.

Keep the streak alive

Storybase counts the days in a row you read or listened, and remembers your longest run. Ten minutes counts. It's a good excuse.

Free gets you a long way.

Nothing below is a trial. Premium is for people who want more of it.

Questions, answered

No. A book an author shares with you opens straight in your browser — no download, no store account, nothing in the way. The reader app adds offline downloads and the full listening experience when you want them.

They stay put. Highlights, notes, bookmarks, and your place are saved to your account, not to the book. If you buy it later, or the author shares it again, everything is exactly where you left it.

No — and we'd rather say so than let you find out. Premium gives you one credit a month to unlock a book, and that book is yours to keep whether or not you stay subscribed. Credits stack up to twelve if you don't spend them. Premium also adds Soundtracks, chapter sharing, and saved AI notes.

It reads the actual text of that book and answers from it, with the author's name and title in front of it the whole time. When the answer genuinely isn't in the book, it tells you that instead of guessing.

All the time. Authors send out first chapters and full copies directly — that's a big part of what Storybase is for. You get the real reader either way: highlights, notes, bookmarks, and questions for the AI.

In your library, on your account. Open it in any browser or in the reader app, and your books, your place, and your notes are all there.
