For publishers

Run the whole roster from one place.

Every author, every title, every format — published, sold, and grown on one platform. And every reader who turns up becomes a relationship, not a receipt.

Roster

One catalog. Every author in it.

Bring authors on as owned or affiliated. Their titles carry your imprint everywhere a reader meets them, and the numbers all land in the same dashboard.

Free

Every title under your imprint

Publish authors you own outright, or invite independent authors to affiliate with you. Their books join your catalog and your public imprint page — and a title can be handed back to its author whenever the deal ends.

Free

One dashboard for the whole roster

Sales, revenue, and reader activity across every author and every title, in one place instead of thirteen author logins. Free from the first book.

Business

Royalty rates that match your deals

Start with a single split applied across the roster. On Business, set a rate per author and a split per book — because the deal you signed with your lead author is not the deal you signed with your debut.

Business

Payouts that handle more than one name

A co-author, a translator, an illustrator, a foreword — multi-contributor splits pay everyone their share out of the same sale, on the same schedule, without a spreadsheet in the middle.

Agencies & ghostwriters

Run your clients' accounts without holding their password.

You already do the work. Manager access is the formal, revocable version of the arrangement — and the Studio is where the production actually happens.

Free

Manager access

You request access to a client author's account. They accept from their own settings — and they can revoke it in one click, which takes effect on the very next request. No shared logins, no password in a doc, no awkward handover.

What you can operate
  • Titles, covers, interiors, and metadata
  • Offer pages, shares, and access forms
  • Campaigns, ambassadors, and their CRM
  • Every mutating action written to an audit log
What stays theirs, always
  • Their billing and subscription
  • Their Stripe Connect onboarding and payout banking
  • Plan changes on their account
  • Deleting their account

Free publishers can manage up to 2 client accounts. Agency and above are unlimited.

Agency

The Studio

A production workspace, not a launcher. A job is one tool run on one manuscript — copyediting, ebook conversion, print interiors, covers, metadata, translation, audiobook — on a board with live status you can actually work from.

Run a job on a plain upload with no client attached, or on a client's live title. When it's ready, hand it off: they review it in their own account and either approve it or send it back with changes.

Copyediting, ebook conversion, print interiors, covers, and metadata run on any tier. The translator unlocks on Agency and above. Audiobooks are billed per production.

Programs

Your readers are the roster's best marketing.

The activation layer authors get, run at catalog scale — and billed on your own Stripe account, not ours.

AmbassadorsBusiness

A membership built around your catalog.

Comp seats for your launch team and your authors' inner circles; paid seats for readers who want in. Every active member — comped or paying — gets full reader access to the books in the program and a toolkit for putting them in front of other people.

CampaignsFree

Launches your whole roster can pull on.

A goal, a leaderboard, and an honest view of who actually moved the needle. Campaigns are free for every publisher — the same way they're free for an author on the free plan. Attaching a custom offer or setting bonus tiers is where Business starts.

Questions, answered

Only if you want them to have one. Authors you publish outright can live in your roster as profiles you manage. Independent authors keep their own account and affiliate with your imprint — you ask, they accept, and either side can end it.

Everything operational: titles, covers, interiors, metadata, offer pages, shares, campaigns, ambassadors, and their reader CRM. What you can never touch is their billing and subscription, their Stripe Connect onboarding, their payout banking, plan changes, or account deletion. Those stay with the author. Every change you make under a grant is written to an audit log, and the author can revoke access instantly from their own settings.

Business (Enterprise includes it). Campaigns are different — those are free for any publisher, exactly the way they're free for an author on the free plan. Attaching a custom offer to a campaign or setting bonus tiers is where Business kicks in.

You do. Paid ambassador seats are charged on your own Stripe Connect account, and Storybase takes 0% of that revenue — you keep it all, less Stripe's processing fees. Creating a paid program requires a fully active Stripe Connect account on your publisher profile.

Free and Agency publishers set one split that applies across the roster. Business unlocks a rate per author, a split per book, and multi-contributor splits for co-authors, translators, and illustrators. Business also puts every book in the catalog on the 70% royalty rate regardless of the individual author's plan.

Yes — that's the Agency tier. An agency is a publisher in Storybase's model: you get the production Studio, unlimited managed client accounts, and a handoff flow that lets a client review and approve your work inside their own account.

Enterprise adds sponsored Author Pro seats for the authors on your roster, a custom seat allowance, and negotiated royalty and platform rates. It's sales-led, priced to your catalog.
